Janet Singer, Esq.
Janet Singer, is a cum laude graduate of Cornell Law School, has been in private practice on Long Island for almost 30 years. Admitted to practice: all New York Courts, Federal District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts, United States Supreme Court, United States Tax Court
As a result of her years in the legal profession, she has a developed a deep understanding of how the courts have determined the rights of litigants. She has developed an expertise protecting matrimonial clients in the Supreme Court and Family Court in divorce, separation, custody and support matters. This experience has enabled her to guide many of her clients away from the expense and ordeal of a trial, to a mediated or negotiated resolution that better protects the parties and their children.
Currently, Janet has modified her practice to include Wills, Trusts, probate and estate management. She has prepared wills with credit shelter trusts and trusts for the benefit of minor children, lifetime revocable and irrevocable trusts, special needs trusts for those with disabilities, and life insurance trusts. In addition to her wide ranging experience with diverse estate matters in the Surrogate’s Court, she has also lectured extensively on those topics
In addition to being an active member of both the Suffolk and New York State Bar Associations and their subcommittees, Janet has also served several years on the Board of Trustees of several Suffolk and Nassau County organizations. She has served as President of Kehillath Shalom Synagogue in Cold Spring Harbor, and she is currently the President of the Lakebridge Club Homeowners Association, having been on the Board there for 6 years. She has also served on the Boards of Planned Parenthood of Huntington and the Suffolk County Girl Scout Council.
In her spare time, Janet continues to be a member of the Huntington Choral Society.
