In any partnership, parties gravitate to their own strengths, whether that is writing, calculating, or nurturing. When a couple gets divorced, suddenly some of those tasks are no longer shared, but now rest on the shoulders of each person. This can be a daunting shift for some people. What do you do when your soon-to-be ex-spouse dealt with the finances and now you have to manage the checkbook? In mediation, we discuss these changes and look for ways to help accommodate the transition from 2 household managers who shared the responsibilities to 1 who is doing it all.
