Leveling the playing field is crucial, especially when addressing finances and equitable distribution. Before negotiations begin, all financial information must be (1) gathered, (2) accurate, and (3) understood by both parties. Often, one spouse may be less financially savvy than the other, so the mediator’s role is to ensure both parties are on the same page, which will benefit everyone involved.
