The distinction between can’t and won’t lies in intent: can’t is often an unconscious limitation, while won’t is a conscious decision. In a recent example, a wife initially couldn’t let go of the past, hindering mediation. However, over time, it became clear she wouldn’t let go because it unwittingly gave her power in the process.
